Manuel's sim racing roots are with console racing games. The Teisendorf, Germany driver made his first experiences with Forza Motorsport and later on Project Cars 2 and achieved first success in the process.

Looking for a more professional approach to sim racing, Mayer in 2018 upgraded his hardware and moved from console gaming to PC and iRacing. In the same year Mayer joined Agee Motorsports and competed in several iRacing Special Events and iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series races for team owner Mark Agee.

Through the longtime friendship of Mark Agee and Benjamin Fischer, Mayer eventually met the Leipzig, Germany driver and competed in the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship for Fischer Motorsport, together with Fischer, driving an Audi R8 LMS in the GT3 class.

At the end of 2018 Mayer moved to Fischer Motorsport and Porsche full-time. The first race together were the 6 Hours of Sebring in the iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series in fall of the same year.

The main focus for 2019 shifted to the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship and running the full season in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with Benjamin Fischer. The team with Mayer made its first headlines and eventually captured its first victory in the second to last championship round of the year.

The biggest accomplishment in Mayer's career so far, and the team's history, occured in a win of the 2020 iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona.
