In an effort to bring the sim racing community together in response to the extraordinary COVID-19 crisis, that has shaken up the world, the organizers of the IVRA ClubSport Series have decided to set up a three-race exhibition IVRA ClubSport Summer Series. The series will feature three races and open with this weekend's 6 Hours of Watkins Glen. Fischer Motorsport will compete with one Porsche Cayman GT4 and drivers Manuel Mayer and Pascal Theis.

The IVRA ClubSport Summer Series - a three-race exhibition series organized by the organizers of the IVRA ClubSport Series - will open its doors this weekend, with a six-hour race at Watkins Glen, featuring the three popular classes from its regular namesake series.

Fischer Motorsport will not be present with its marquee No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup team that has competed in the last two seasons of the series, winning the 4 Hours of Road Atlanta in 2019, but instead will be starting in the event with the No. 185 Porsche Cayman GT4 and German drivers Manuel Mayer and Pascal Theis.

It will be the first time the team will enter a GT4 class race car in the series, after previously introducing the car to competition under the team's banner in the opening round of the 2020 iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship earlier this year.

The 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, however, will represent the most challenging test to the Porsche Cayman GT4 in the team's history so far. Expecting high temperatures at the legendary race track in upstate New York, the endurance event will take the most of man and machine alike.

"The Cayman is a fun car to drive. We're having a blast out there. But managing tires will be a big one for everybody this weekend. The hot temperatures really eat up the tires fast. So we've got to look into that on Saturday. We're not the fastest car out there, but our consistency is fairly good. We still got a bit of work ahead of us. But I'm quite optimistic.", Manuel Mayer commented on his outlook for Saturday's race.

The exhibition series, that was announced as a reaction to the COVID-19 crisis, will feature three races at six hours each, at Watkins Glen, Spa Francorchamps in Belgium and Imola in Italy. The short three-race series will conclude on August 1st, before the official IVRA ClubSport Series returns in September of this year.

The 6 Hours of Watkins Glen will go green Saturday at 18:00 CEST / 12:00 pm EDT and can be watched live on the YouTube broadcast of Racespot TV. Alternatively, Fischer Motorsport will also have an onboard live stream on hand from inside the No. 185 Porsche Cayman GT4 with Mayer and Theis.
