The 12 Hours of Sebring did not go as expected but still ended on a positive note for the No. 84 Porsche 911 GT3 R, earning a fifth-place finish.

Round 2 of the 2023 VSCA SportsCar Championship at Sebring International Raceway saw Fischer Motorsport travel to Florida once again with three cars, the No. 14 Dallara P217 LMP2 team and the two Porsche 911 GT3 R teams that compete in the GTD class.

Siegertsbrunn, Germany driver Niklas Solle started off things strong on the weekend for Fischer Motorsport, earning VR7UAL Pole Position for the 12 Hours of Sebring in Qualifying. It was the first GT pole for the organization since entering VSCA competition in 2022.

In the race, technical issues caught up with both GT teams again. Solle was leading when on lap five, electrical issues forced the team to the pits, dropping them all the way back and off the lead lap.

The No. 14 Dallara LMP2 of Rico Kollmeier, Travis Linscome-Hatfield and Thomas Martin was involved in a crash and ended up losing a lot of ground in the process, but achieved damage control by bringing home a P6 finish.

The No. 84 Porsche with drivers Manuel Mayer, Rick Cats and Jay Van Meppelen ran a strong race to claim fifth place, but also had to overcome technical issues, when Van Meppelen had steering troubles in the final third of the race.

After the early electrical problems, the No. 85 Porsche fought back to the top ten and took P8 in the end, when the checkers waved.

In the LMP2 championship, the No. 14 Dallara team continues to sit in second place, albeit with a larger gap now than it was before Sebring.

In GTD, it is the No. 85 Porsche leading the way in P8, with a 254-point deficit. The No. 84 Porsche is tenth, 273 points out of first place.

The next race in the VSCA SportsCar Championship takes place in two weeks at Long Beach.
